SUMMARY:Botanic Garden 150th 'Fresh Shoots' Photo Competition: Summer Season
DESCRIPTION:Wellington Photographic Society is partnering with Excio\, NZ Photographer magazine\, New Zealand Photography Workshops\, Wellington Photographic Supplies\, and Nikon to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Wellington Botanic Garden with a 12-month photo competition. The photo competition is open to amateur and professional photographers\, including youth aged 14-18-years.  \nThe competition is split into four quarterly competitions based on each of the four seasons. Entries for the Summer quarter close on 22 March 2019. \nEntrants can submit one image per season and are encouraged to capture the seasonal aspects of life at the garden\, then select the best category for their image when completing the entry form and uploading their image to www.excio.io/freshshoots. Terms and conditions are also available online.  \nEach season\, a panel of expert judges will assess images on the basis of quality\, creativity\, and how the image captures the unique seasonal aspects of the botanic garden. Prizes will be awarded for the seasonal winners as well as the best image in each category – People\, Nature\, Events\, and Creative. A Supreme winner will be selected from the eight seasonal winners at the conclusion of the 12-month competition. DESCRIPTION:Jordyn has been teaching adults how to be creative through the medium of photography for over thirteen years. She holds an Advanced Diploma of Photography from Massey Univerisity and teaches continuing education photography courses through Wellington High School and Victoria University. She is particularly well known for her The Creative Eye course. \nJordyn’s teaching also incorporates photography mentoring and running workshops through her business “Shot in the Dark”. \nJordyn’s talk this evening will look at the original inspiration behind impressionist art as well as the techniques and vision involved in creating impressionist photography. \n

SUMMARY:Botanic Gardens Spring Photo Walk: Creative Photography
DESCRIPTION:The Spring photo walk lead by Jordyn O’Keeffe is the first in a series of photo walks being organised by WPS as part of the Botanic Gardens 150th Celebrations\, alongside the Botanic Gardens ‘Fresh Shoots’ Photo Competition. \nJordyn’s photo walk will focus on Creative Photography\, starting with a 45-minute tutorial in the Seminar Room at the Treehouse and followed by a guided photo walk through the gardens. Jordyn will be available to interact and share ideas with participants and WPS volunteers will also be available to assist. \nPlaces on this photo walk are now full and registrations have been closed. \nJordyn has been teaching adults how to be creative through the medium of photography for over thirteen years.
