SUMMARY:What's in the Bag? Photography Challenge
DESCRIPTION:What’s in the Bag?\nWhat’s in the bag\, is a creative photography challenge that begins with a little brown bag. \nThe challenge starts with five everyday items. Each item offers a challenge designed to challenge your creativity. \nThere are only a limited number of bags available\, but don’t worry if you miss out on a bag – most items can found around the home. We’ll update this on all our channels once the challenge is underway. \nCreate your images \nYou may work as individuals or groups to create an image of each item. You are encouraged to be as creative as possible with your items – this may mean that you change or alter it in some way\, turn it into something else\, use it in an unexpected manner\, etc. \nYou may use alternative versions of the items (ie if one of the items is a lightbulb but you have a special one which looks cooler\, you may use that instead). \nChallenge Items\n• Pasta\n• Playing Cards\n• Faux flowers\n• Bubble mix\n• Coloured paper\n• Bokeh filter\n• Toy Dinosaur \nIf you can’t make the meeting or if you want to join the challenge from home\, you may substitute any of the above with household items. \nEntry Details \nThere are 3 ways to enter your images: \n\nYou can email your image to comms@wps.org.nz Max size is 4mb\, JPEG only\nPlease label your images with the item used and your name.\nYou can enter via Instagram\, tag your image with #wpsinthebag & tag @wgtnphotographicsociety. Please note which item you have used in your description.\nYou can also tag us on Facebook by mentioning the society in your post.\nEntry is open for a week\, from the 8th to 15th (midnight). Entries will not be accepted after the 15th.\nThere’ll be a random spot prize on the day and for the week for those who share their images and photos on social channels (and via email) using the hashtag #wpsinthebag and tagging @wgtnphotographicsociety. \n\nOpen to Greater Wellington residents only. \nRules and Conditions \n\nYou get up to five entries\, – each entry should be a different item though.\nYou can combine up to two items if you want to.\nIf working in a group\, each person must submit different images.\nAll images should be submitted using in-camera techniques with minimal editing. No AI. I.e all images elements must be created in camera.\nImages must be shot between 8th-15th Spot prize winner will be randomly drawn and notified by email or social media.\nSubmitted images may be used to promote the Society through social media\, publications and web. Full credit will be provided. Images will not be used commercially.\n\nGet out there and get snapping 😊

It’s well worth to see the spectacular kites at New Zealand’s largest kite festival. \n\nSee world class kites of all shapes and sizes. Relax in the sun and enjoy the live entertainment or purchase a treasure from one of our stalls. Stay for lunch and sample the tasty treats from one of our food vendors or bring a picnic and watch the world go by. For the kids\, there are slides\, bouncy castles and our fabulous kite train. DESCRIPTION:BOWLZILLA Wellington is celebrating its 9th year as New Zealand’s biggest skateboarding festival the week of the 17th of February and capping it all with the New Zealand National Bowl Skating Championships. \nFor the ninth consecutive year\, BOWLZILLA Wellington will be putting on the biggest week of skating in New Zealand. With more events\, bigger gatherings\, larger celebrations and the best week of skating Aotearoa is likely to see. The weeklong festival highlights all the best of skating through ARTZILLA\, music\, barbecues\, catch ups\, our incredible friends and family and of course the competition. \nBOWLZILLA is renowned for its full week of festival happenings and this year there will be new additions celebrating the wider skate community and their awesome talents. The biggest week of skating in New Zealand is growing even larger. Everyone is welcome to come along and cheer and be part of the whole festival for free. SUMMARY:Debbie Rawson - Musician to Photographer
DESCRIPTION:Debbie Rawson is best known as a musician but has been pursuing the visual arts with equal dedication since the age of 12 when her father gave her a Box Brownie for Xmas. She graduated from The Photo School in 2007 and completed a post-grad dip in Photography and Applied Art at Te Auaha\, 2019. \nFor decades she has provided professional photographic services for her classical music colleagues and her images appear on CD covers\, musicians’ promotional material\, website photography and portraits. She has recently opened the Pariwhero Red Rocks Gallery on the South Coast of Wellington.
