SUMMARY:The work of Ans Westra presented by {Suite} Gallery
DESCRIPTION:{Suite} Gallery Director David Alsop has had a long association with photographer Ans Westra\, which began in 2007 after she was invited to exhibit prints at the newly-opened gallery. \nIn 2012 they established Suite Tirohanga together to act as agent for Ans\, with David taking on the role of manager of her print archive and copyright. Soon after a project between Suite Tirohanga and the National Library of New Zealand began to digitise Ans’ negative archive\, consisting of around 300\,000 images. \n\nDavid will speak about managing the Westra archive and Ans’ decades-long involvement with the portrayal of Aotearoa culture\, which stands as the most significant cross-cultural visual record of the second half of the twentieth century. \nMay 11th | Tararua Tramping Club (Mt Victoria) | Doors 7pm\nFree entry | All ages welcome
