12hr B&W Competition: Images

Our first competition of the year took place on the 22nd of February. The challenge was to take a photo or series of photos representing one or more themes. Entrants had 12 hours from finding out the themes to take, edit and submit their images. The competition was open to all
photographers in the Greater Wellington Region, and images needed to be taken within this
area.

Inspired by the 48hr Film Festival, the themes were chosen to give photographers creative space to come up with interesting images and sets. Submissions started flowing in from quite early in the day. A meetup was held in conjunction with the competition, with good attendance. It was good to see photographers working together and helping each other with the challenge.

The overall winner of the competition was Jack Driver who took home a brand new Canon 200D Mark II from Wellington Photographic

Supplies and Canon New Zealand and a selection
of other wonderful prizes from Splendid, Okko and Photography by Woolf.

Other winners included Holly Neill for the best overall set, Alison Viskov, Zuyi Woon, Holly Neill and Jack Driver for winning the best image in each theme.

We would like to once again extend a huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors – Wellington Photographic Supplies and Canon New Zealand, Okko Pro Filters, Splendid and Photography
by Woolf.

Many thanks to our competition volunteers – Glen Innes for organising sponsorship, prizes and our judge, Bruce Girdwood for judging and Donna Jennings, Raymond Cho, Shannon Doyle and Mel Keith for the work they also put in. The amount of effort put into this was immense.
