Athol McCredie – Spencer Digby Studio Collection

Athol McCredie is Curator of Photography at Te Papa. He will talk about the Spencer Digby Studio collection held by Te Papa. The studio was founded in 1931 by Spencer Digby and was taken over by Ron and Inge Woolf in 1960, who ran it under the same name until the mid-1970s.
It was a portrait studio where anybody who was anyone in (or visiting) Wellington was photographed, from prime ministers to debutantes.
Athol will also talk about early twentieth-century photographer Leslie Adkin, the subject of his most recent book, ‘Leslie Adkin: Farmer Photographer’.
