Lizzie Bisley – What we can learn from painters

What can we, as photographers, learn from painters? That is the question we have posed to Te Papa art curator Lizzie Bisley for a talk at this week’s meeting. For example, how do painters think about composition, how do painters use light, and how have these have changed over various periods and movements?

Lizzie has an honours degree in art history from Victoria University and has also studied at the Royal College of Art in London, after which she worked as a curator at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. Lizzie returned to Wellington in 2019 and is now the Curator Modern Art at Te Papa.
