DESCRIPTION:My family has a very strong connection with Cuba St\, or more correctly the ship it’s named after.\nI’m doing a personal pilgrimage\, The Voyage of the Cuba\, on Thursday evening\, the 6th October.\n\nWe will be meeting at the corner of Cuba & Manners St\, outside the 2Degrees shop at 5.30pm. If you are running late\, you will find us somewhere on Cuba between there and Santoria.\n\nPhotograph anything you like: architecture\, people\, ICM\, abstract stuff…\nThere is a booking at Santoria for 6.45/7pm for those who wish to stay and catch-up afterwards.\n\nI’m taking my laptop so people could upload their single\, favourite image for viewing (possibly for showing at a later club night(?). DESCRIPTION:2022 Wellington Interclub Print Competition \nEach year\, photography clubs from across the Wellington region come together to compete for bragging rights and a trophy for best print. \n\n\nTechnical skill doesn’t necessarily guarantee a place in the top 3\, but a good eye and submitting a photo deftly encapsulates the theme will take you far. \nThe interclub competition is a great competition for new and experienced members alike with no cost to make an entry. SUMMARY:Sport Photography Meetup - Track Cycling
DESCRIPTION:Track cycling is ideal\, as you have ‘captive’ subjects who keep going past you with some regularity\, and you can try all manner of techniques. \nYou can also leave bags etc in the middle of the park. It’s secure\, as only officials go there. A sunhat is strongly advised\, even in October. The cyclists are a friendly\, welcoming bunch who give photographers great access\, and they love getting/seeing images of themselves in action. \n\nThis event is their Spring Classic Carnival.\nLocation: Wellington Velodrome (Map)

SUMMARY:Zealandia Meetup
DESCRIPTION:Tucked up over the city of Wellington is Zealandia\, an ecosanctuary reminiscent of the days before humans arrived in New Zealand. \n\nZealandia is a great place to photograph more than just birds – there are invertebrates\, plants\, fungi\, and tuatara too (so you don’t need a huge long lens if you don’t have one). It’s spring at the moment so there should be some breeding displays going on\, and you might even spot some birds collecting food to feed hungry chicks!\n\n\n\nKeep in mind\, we do not have an official Zealandia guide for this meet-up\, but we do have a staff member who knows the sanctuary quite well  \nPlease let us know if you can make this meet-up as we need to determine if we have enough Zealandia members attending to get everyone in at half-price. DESCRIPTION:Lara is a Wellington photographer\, she explores dreamscapes through the themes of metamorphosis\, mortality\, escapism\, ascension\, peace and silence. She will talk about her practice\, her photographic process and inspiration.\n\nLara has received multiple awards for her work including a finalist at the Lucie Foundation Portrait Awards 2021\, first place in Nude and Figure category at the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards 2021 and 2020 and winner of Australasia’s Top Emerging Portrait Photographer for 2018.\n\nGilks’ work was recently published in Art New Zealand the winter issue in 2022 and SHOTS magazine in 2021. She has been exhibited widely since 2015\,in 2021/22 she has exhibited in group shows in Spain\, Hungary\, Italy\, USA.
