SUMMARY:Finding Vivian Maier - Movie Night
DESCRIPTION:Finding Vivian Maier is a 2013 American documentary film about the photographer Vivian Maier\, who working most of her life as a nanny and housekeeper\, took over 100\,000 photographs secretly and hid them in lockers until they were discovered decades later. She is now considered one of the greatest 20th century American photographers. \nThe film documents how Maloof\, the film’s co- director\, discovered her work in a box of photo negatives at a 2007 Chicago auction\, then scanned the images and put them on the Internet\, which inspired a Kickstarter campaign to produce a film of her work. \nUpon release\, the film received critical acclaim and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 87th Academy Awards. \nThursday 12th October\, Doors Open 7pm\, Tararua Tramping Club

SUMMARY:Member Showcase
DESCRIPTION:We are looking for members to showcase what they have been up over the last year. We love to see what our members have been doing – learning new skills\, photographing new environments or just making memories with family and friends. \nIf you think you might have something you like to show off\, let at know at comms@wps.org.nz. \nWe already have several members who are going to talk about their photography. This should be a good introduction to the work of some photographers you might not have been previously aware of in the club. \nThursday 26th October – Tararua Tramping Club – Doors open 7pm
