SUMMARY:Night-time Scavenger Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Night-time Scavenger Hunt\nA Photography Scavenger Hunt is a fun way to stretch your photography and creative skills alongside other Photographers\, especially in the dark! \nThere will be 20 prompts from which you will choose 10 to photograph. There will be a prize for best overall image and a random spot prize for a lucky photographer. Entries are via Instagram (just tag the society) or Email (comms@wps.org.nz – please name your image with the number prompt and your name). \nAll skill levels are welcome\, all cameras are welcome. Film\, Digital\, Mobile\, Point & Shoot. There are no limits. Some prompts may require a tripod so bring one along if you would like. \nDetails\nTime & Place: 7.30pm – 8.30pm (competition)\, then socialising at the Welsh Dragon bar \nStart: We will meet at the Tararua Tramping Club and will set off at 7.30 sharp. If you are late or need to join us late\, please text either 027 282 6386 or 027 322 4595. \nFinish: 8:30pm at the Welsh Dragon Bar to chat and share images. \nOnly images taken on the evening will be eligible for prizes\, but you are welcome to use the prompts at any time for some creative inspiration. Please feel free to share those images as well. \nNote – if the weather is not co-operating\, we will organise an alternative activity to take place at the Tararua Tramping Club. \nPrompts: \n\nCapture something in motion frozen in time.\nTake a picture of a unique architectural detail.\nTake a picture of something old juxtaposed with something new.\nCapture a candid moment of people interacting.\nSnap a picture of a creative street art piece.\nPhotograph something that tells a story without words.\nTake a photo of something that makes you smile.\nFind beauty in simplicity – photograph something minimalist.\nPhotograph something that looks like it belongs in a fantasy world.\nCapture the feeling of being surrounded by towering buildings.\nTake a photo of a hidden gem that only locals would know about.\nPhotograph a creative light painting using long exposure.\nCapture the shimmering reflections in a body of water at night.\nSnap a photo of a lit-up sign or neon lights.\nCapture the trails of car lights in a long exposure shot.\nFind interesting shadows cast by artificial light sources.\nPhotograph a scene illuminated by street lamps or lanterns.\nFind a spot where the night sky meets the city skyline.\nCapture the mystery and intrigue of the night with a creative self-portrait.\nPhotograph an object that starts with the letter “S.”\n\n

SUMMARY:Projected Image Competition: 2024
DESCRIPTION:This is the WPS Annual Competition for Projected Images which is open to all members of the society and is a great chance to share your work with other club members. \n\n\n\n\n\n \nEntry\n\nCategory: Open\nEntries Close: 13th of June\nEach member can submit up to three images.\nEntries should be sent to comms@wps.org.nz by midnight\,13th of June.\nFile Specs: Full resolution under 5MB\nFile naming: Number\, First name\, Last Name\, Title (if any)\nColour Mode: RGB colour mode (not Grayscale)\nBit Depth: 8 bits/Channel\nColour Space: SRGB\nJPEG Format: Baseline (“Standard”)\nYour membership (Member Fees) must be up to date to enter this or other WPS competitions.\n\nFile Naming\nTo avoid mixing up each member’s files\, each image should have a clear file naming structure. It just allows us to keep better track of the images. \n\nNumber_FirstName_Surname_Title.jpg\n\nEntry Rules\n\nAll elements must be the work of (or have been created by) the photographer (entrant).\nThe use of stock photography\, computer-rendered (and AI) or third party content (including skies\, borders or textures) is prohibited. \nAll content and images must be from original exposures made within 24 months of the entry closing date. This includes all composite elements of an image\, such as backgrounds\, skies\, textures and borders.\nImages must not have been entered into other Wellington Photographic Society competitions.\nImages captured\, retouched\, digitally edited or printed over the duration of a workshop\, seminar\, tutorial\, or similar\, where the primary focus is for education\, are ineligible\, irrespective of whether it was under the direct instruction of the presenter or not. This rule only applies to attendees of workshops\, tutorials and educational/training events. Instructors\, students\, emerging members\, and attendees of photo-tours where the primary focus is not educational\, are not restricted. If you have any questions\, regarding the entry or the rules please let us know. Exemptions may be granted in cases of sickness/extenuating circumstances (This will be on a case by case basis)\n\nThe meeting opens at 7:00pm\, presentation is likely to start from 7.15. \n\n\n\n\n
