DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered how your photography compares alongside the work of other photographers? If so\, our upcoming Projected Image Competition is the perfect opportunity to get involved. \nA cornerstone of the Wellington Photographic Society’s annual programme\, this competition celebrates creativity across all genres and skill levels. Open to all members\, it’s a fantastic chance to share your images\, gain inspiration from fellow photographers\, and enjoy an evening showcasing the wide range of talent within the club. \nWhether you’re entering for the first time or are a regular competitor\, it promises to be a fun\, relaxed\, and inspiring night for everyone involved. \nEntry\n\nCategory: Open\nEntries Close: 29th of May (Midnight)\nEach member can submit up to three images.\nEntries should be sent to comms@wps.org.nz by midnight\, 29th of May (Midnight).\nFile Specs: Full resolution under 5MB\nFile naming: Number\, First name\, Last Name\, Title (if any)\nColour Mode: RGB colour mode (not Grayscale)\nBit Depth: 8 bits/Channel\nColour Space: SRGB\nJPEG Format: Baseline (“Standard”)\nYour membership (Member Fees) must be current to enter this or any other WPS competitions.\n\n \nFile Naming\nTo avoid mixing up each member’s files\, each image should have a clear file naming structure. It just allows us to keep better track of the images. \n\nNumber_FirstName_Surname_Title.jpg\n\nEntry Rules\n\nAll elements must be the work of (or have been created by) the photographer (entrant).\nThe use of stock photography\, computer-rendered (and AI) or third party content (including skies\, borders or textures) is prohibited. \nAll content and images must be from original exposures made within 24 months of the entry closing date. This includes all composite elements of an image\, such as backgrounds\, skies\, textures and borders.\nImages must not have been entered into other Wellington Photographic Society competitions.\nImages captured\, retouched\, digitally edited or printed over the duration of a workshop\, seminar\, tutorial\, or similar\, where the primary focus is for education\, are ineligible\, irrespective of whether it was under the direct instruction of the presenter or not. This rule only applies to attendees of workshops\, tutorials and educational/training events. Instructors\, students\, emerging members\, and attendees of photo-tours where the primary focus is not educational\, are not restricted. If you have any questions\, regarding the entry or the rules please let us know. Exemptions may be granted in cases of sickness/extenuating circumstances (This will be on a case by case basis)\n\nThe meeting opens at 7:00pm\, presentation is likely to start from 7.15

DESCRIPTION:Celebrating a remarkable photographic journey and more than 40 years of membership\nJohn Boyd is one of the Wellington Photographic Society’s most respected and long-serving members\, having joined the Society in 1982. Over more than four decades\, he has made an outstanding contribution to WPS through his dedication\, service\, and commitment to fostering photographic excellence. In recognition of this exceptional contribution\, John was awarded Life Membership of the Society. \n\nJohn’s influence extends far beyond Wellington. Within the wider New Zealand photographic community\, he is held in the highest regard and has been recognised with the prestigious distinctions of Honorary Fellow and Honorary Member of the Photographic Society of New Zealand. He also holds the Associate distinction (APSNZ)\, reflecting his significant achievements and longstanding contribution to photography nationwide. \nJohn’s passion for photography\, generosity in sharing his knowledge\, and unwavering support of fellow photographers have left a lasting impact on both WPS and the broader photographic community. \nAs this is also our annual mid-winter meeting\, please bring a plate for a shared supper. \n\nVisitors are welcome to attend!\n\n\n\nThursday 25th @ Tararua Tramping Hall\, Doors open 7pm
