WPS is planning to enter the inter-club competitions about to be run by the Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ), namely the:
Notice of Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Wellington Photographic Society Inc
The AGM is scheduled for 27th November 2025. We are calling for any motions members wish to add to the agenda as part of the AGM business, as well as nominations for officeholders and WPS Committee members. Any motion for a change to the WPS Rules must be sent to the Secretary by 20th of November. Information on committee roles and nomination forms can be obtained via email.
This year, we will also be discussing the updated constitution, which will be required to comply with the new act.
The Wellington Photographic Society’s annual exhibition is a highlight of our year, bringing together the creative work of our members and sharing it with the wider public. For us, it’s not just a chance to hang photographs on the wall – it’s an opportunity to celebrate the art of photography, showcase the talent within our community, and invite others to discover what makes photography such an inspiring and accessible pursuit.
This year’s exhibition offers a diverse collection of images captured both close to home and further afield. You’ll see photographs from all around the world – landscapes, portraits, street scenes, and wildlife – but the heart of the exhibition is firmly rooted in Wellington. Our members have drawn inspiration from the beauty and variety of our own backyard: dramatic coastlines, majestic mountains, vibrant cities, and the small, fleeting details that make life unique.
The results for this year’s competition were announced at the monthly NPSNZ club night, a special night for all those attending in-house or online.
Judge Simon Runting commented that the sets with outstanding images, that work together, are well crafted with clever design, texture, colour and lines were the standouts.
Image submission deadline extended to 3rd September. Send your images to comms@wps.org.nz now.
The exhibition is being held this year at the Thistle Hall in Cuba St and will run from 29 September to the 5th of October.
Our annual exhibition is the opportunity to showcase the best work of our members to family, friends and the public and we try to include work from each member.
Trenna Packer set selection
Images from five members have been chosen for our entry into the Trenna Packer Salver Competition for nature images. One image each from Mike Drain, Lesley Cornish, John Boyd, Barry Mahon and two images from Mark Campbell make up our set for this interclub competition run by the Nature Photography Society of New Zealand.
Thank you to all the members who submitted images. It was great to have a range of images and subjects to select from, particularly with the competition requirements that the set must flow well and have good cohesion and include a variety of subjects being a significant factor in the final choice of images for our entry.
Submissions for the Interclub Competition close Thursday 11th September. Send your images to comms@wps.org.nz now.
Hosted by the Whanganui Camera Club on 12 October at their clubrooms in 2 Handley St from midday
