Night-time Scavenger Hunt

A Photography Scavenger Hunt is a fun way to stretch your photography and creative skills alongside other Photographers, especially in the dark!

There will be 20 prompts from which you will choose 10 to photograph. There will be a prize for best overall image and a random spot prize for a lucky photographer. Entries are via Instagram (just tag the society) or Email (comms@wps.org.nz – please name your image with the number prompt and your name).

All skill levels are welcome, all cameras are welcome. Film, Digital, Mobile, Point & Shoot. There are no limits. Some prompts may require a tripod so bring one along if you would like.

Details

Time & Place: 7.30pm – 8.30pm (competition), then socialising at the Welsh Dragon bar

Start: We will meet at the Tararua Tramping Club and will set off at 7.30 sharp. If you are late or need to join us late, please text either 027 282 6386 or 027 322 4595.

Finish: 8:30pm at the Welsh Dragon Bar to chat and share images.

Only images taken on the evening will be eligible for prizes, but you are welcome to use the prompts at any time for some creative inspiration. Please feel free to share those images as well.

Note – if the weather is not co-operating, we will organise an alternative activity to take place at the Tararua Tramping Club.

1. Capture something in motion frozen in time.
2. Take a picture of a unique architectural detail.
3. Take a picture of something old juxtaposed with something new.
4. Capture a candid moment of people interacting.
5. Snap a picture of a creative street art piece.
6. Photograph something that tells a story without words.
7. Take a photo of something that makes you smile.
8. Find beauty in simplicity – photograph something minimalist.
9. Photograph something that looks like it belongs in a fantasy world.
10. Capture the feeling of being surrounded by towering buildings.
11. Take a photo of a hidden gem that only locals would know about.
12. Photograph a creative light painting using long exposure.
13. Capture the shimmering reflections in a body of water at night.
14. Snap a photo of a lit-up sign or neon lights.
15. Capture the trails of car lights in a long exposure shot.
16. Find interesting shadows cast by artificial light sources.
17. Photograph a scene illuminated by street lamps or lanterns.
18. Find a spot where the night sky meets the city skyline.
19. Capture the mystery and intrigue of the night with a creative self-portrait.
20. Photograph an object that starts with the letter “S.”
