Black and White – Meetup

Join us for an opportunity to shoot in black and white in a relaxed environment.

Starting at the Te Papa Museum ground floor cafe, we will have a chat, set our cameras to black and white together and then set off to capture some images. Returning to the cafe afterwards we will then hand our cameras around to show and discuss what we each captured.

This is a fun, relaxed shoot suitable for any level of experience.
Equipment: Camera with a blank SD card (a phone with a monochrome setting would also work).
Saturday, 20th July, 10am to Lunchtime, Te Papa Museum Cafe

Black and white photography – Sean Aickin

Sean Aickin from Splendid, a small analogue photo shop in Newtown, will give us his take on black and white photography.

With a photographic father, who had his own photo shop, there was little doubt Sean would end up in the photographic industry. Starting out in the late 90s, Sean has worked in various photo stores in New Zealand and Australia before spending 15 years at Wellington Photographic Supplies. As a steadfast analogue fan, he thought it would be a good idea to open an analogue-focused photo shop and, in September 2018, he realised this dream.

Splendid photographic shop is the analogue photographer’s dream shop, stocking film from all over the world and making film photography that much easier in New Zealand. As well as starting Splendid, Sean has been an active photographer within the music industry, photographing bands from all over the world, and he also loves a good street photograph.

Doors open at 7:00pm, meeting starts at 7:30pm

February photo topic – Black and white

This year, we are going to have a monthly photo topic and invite members to take images to the theme during the month. This is an opportunity to share our work on an informal basis. This month’s theme is “Black and white”. Send your favourite three images to wpsimpact@gmail.com by the last day of the month. All submissions will be included in a short presentation of images at the first club meeting of the following month.
