Wellington Region Interclub Print Battle 2022 Update
A quick update on this year’s print battle, which is almost upon us! I do hope you can encourage as many of your members to attend as possible in support of your entry. It will be the first time we have been able to socialise with other clubs free of Covid restrictions
Details:
Time and Place
7.00pm for 7.30pm start on Wednesday 19 October 2022 at the Johnsonville Community Centre Hall, 3 Frankmoore Ave, Johnsonville.
Competition Details
The clubs in the region compete annually for an engraved cup and framed print of a wolf in snow, which is awarded for the best aggregate result of ten prints submitted by each club.
The prints cover ten topics, which in 2022 are:
- Misty Day
- You Light up my Life
- Viewed 100mm from the Ground
- Danger
- Night Life in the City
- Long Exposure
- Photojournalism
- Sporting Action
- B/W Landscape in the Style of Walker Evans
- Quote: “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heaven”
This year there are four clubs competing. They are Johnsonville Camera Club, Kapiti Coast Photographic Society, Porirua Photography Club and Wellington Photographic Society.
Representatives from each club present their club’s entry for each topic on stage and the judge (John Boyd) ranks them in order from 1 to 4. Tables will be provided for each club to sort their club’s images out prior to the start of the event. The host club collates the results topic by topic and advises everyone of the interim and final results.
The Stella Daniell Annual Abstract Photography Award is also made on the night. This is for the best abstract image from among the forty entries submitted. A framed abstract print is the prize awarded.
At the conclusion of the judging, all of the images are displayed for attendees to view over supper. Please allow time for this to take place rather than packing everything away immediately
