WPS 12-hour Black and White Competition

Join us for our first competition of the year – a B+W themed, 12-hour photo competition. Anyone in the Greater Wellington Region can enter.

Entrants will be able to choose from a list of themes, and will then have 12 hours to conceive, photograph, edit and submit a series of up to 5 images to represent that theme. Your images may be a set related to just one theme or they can span a number of themes. Entrants can submit a series of up to 5 images and you may enter images in more than one theme. This photo competition is open to anyone in the Greater Wellington Region.

Inspired by the 48hr Film Festival, the themes will be released at 10am on 22nd February, with images to be submitted by 10pm 22nd February (same day). We have selected themes that will allow a great degree of freedom for those who enter and are looking forward to receiving some exciting images.

We also are organizing a Meet-up at 9.45am on the Waterfront at the White Fountain on Frank Kitts Park. This will be a chance to discuss the themes and how to approach the competition, enjoy some company or just hang out and take some photos (you do not need to enter the competition to take part in the meet-up!)

Prizes will be offered for the most outstanding overall image, the best image in each theme and for the most outstanding overall set.

Themes

  • People in the Community – Show us the heart of the community and what makes it special.
  • At the Coast – It is more than beaches. Show us what is happening at a beach near you.
  • Highlight the Shadows – Make the most of black and white using light and shade.
  • Man Made – A broad theme: anything that has been made by man.
