The 2018 Annual Wellington Photographic Exhibition is being held this year at the Green Street Gallery in Newtown (Green Street) and will run from 2-11 November 2018 with a possible extension to 18 November 2018.

Friends and family welcome are welcome.

INFORMAL OPENING NIGHT:

  • Friday 2 November 2018
  • 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Please come and join us to celebrate the creative photos of your fellow club-members and yourself– family and friends welcome

Finger food and refreshments will be available.

Annual Exhibition: Deadlines & Specs

 An urgent reminder that entries are due in by midnight on Thursday this week (25 October 2018).

Initially electronic entries should be sent to competitions@wps.org.nz by that time (midnight, 25 October 2018).  

They should be clearly labelled with the word exhibition, the photographer’s name and the title of the work.should be clearly labelled as indicated below

  • I.e ‘Exhibition.Firstname.Lastname.Title’.
  • Max file size: 5mb

Wellington Botanic Garden 150th ‘Fresh Shoots’ Photo Competition

Wellington Photographic Society is partnering with Excio, NZ Photographer magazine, New Zealand Photography Workshops, Wellington Photographic Supplies, and Nikon to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Wellington Botanic Garden with a 12-month photo competition.
The photo competition is open to amateur and professional photographers, including youth aged 14 – 18 years.

  • Closing Date for Entries: On or before 13 September (midnight)
  • Results Night: 27 September 2018 at the TTC Club Rooms

Please note that prints will need to be with the Competitions Desk by midnight 13 September 2018.

If you have any comments or need special consideration please let Julie know on 021-1405-961. You may drop your prints to Julie in the city (Customhouse Quay) if this is more convenient on or before 13 September 2018. The Club Meeting on 13 September will be the last date for submission of your prints.

Starting in 2018 we are asking our members to submit images around 2 monthly topics. This is a opportunity to share images on a more informal basis and get everyone more involved in sharing images.

This month is Architecture & People

Send your favourite 3 pics to sharemypics@wps.org.nz by the last day of the month. All submissions will be included in a short presentation of images at the first club meeting of the following month.

Paul Hoelen (2017 AIPP Landscape & Commercial Photographer of the year)

Join us for a talk with Paul Hoelen who is both the 2017 AIPP Tasmanian Professional Landscape Photographer of the Year and Commercial Photographer of the Year.

Originally born in New Zealand to a Dutch Sailor and an American Nun, Paul has managed to put his four passports to excellent use before eventually settling on the beautiful, wild island of Tasmania.
