This is the WPS Annual Competition for Projected Images which is open to all members of the society and is a great chance to share your work with other club members.
The images will be presented and winners announced by this year’s competition judge at the meeting.
You are invited to enjoy the Annual Exhibition of the Wellington Photographic Society, being held this year in the Te Auaha Gallery
The exhibition is being held this year at the Thistle Hall in Cuba St and will run from 28 October – 3 November 2019.
Our annual exhibition is the opportunity to showcase the best work of our members to family, friends and the public and we try to include as wide a range of members as possible.
Current members of WPS are invited to submit up to three images to be considered for selection for the exhibition.
Theme
All photos submitted must have been shot within the Wellington region, and be labelled with the location shot at.
Entry
Printing and matting
The exhibition will be shown in the club frames, which are 16 x 20 inches. We will arrange printing and mounting of selected images on your behalf.
You may elect to print and matt your own images. If this is the case, the mounted images will need to fit the club frames and would preferably be with white mats. Likewise, any images submitted that are already framed will need to be consistent with the club frames sizing and aesthetic. Acceptance of matted (or framed) images for the exhibition will be subject to committee approval.

Gallery roster
We are looking to establish a roster of volunteers to man the gallery during weekday afternoons and during the weekends. Please contact the committee via comms@wps.org.nz if you can volunteer.
This month’s magazine has articles about from Donna Jennings about the importance of being in the moment, the Photival Festival, An exploration on how modern sensors work, a short multiple exposure tutorial, a recap of the PSNZ National Exhibition which was organised by us and an article about how to get your images sorted in Lightroom.
There are also some fantastic images from the recent Anzac Day celebrations and updates on our various competitions and events.
Our Summer workshop / photo walk lead by Mary Hutchinson is the second in a series of photo walks being organised by WPS as part of the Botanic Gardens 150th Celebrations and the ‘Fresh Shoots’ Photo Competition.
Registrations will open in December and numbers will be limited so make sure you reserve your space.
Andy has moved into Egmont Street, one of Wellingtons most popular Laneways, just below the iconic skybox. He shares the space with TSE Architects and Melling Architects and uses his own studio as a place to run his commercial photography business, a small gallery and an area to run masterclass photography workshops.
Andy has taught photography at all levels over his career from Masterclasses in London, Undergraduate courses at the University of Hertfordshire and at the Wellington CEC. He holds a Masters Degree in photography from the University of the Arts in London and has been a professional photographer for the last 15 years.
There is no Thursday meeting this week due to the 125th Anniversary Exhibition Opening Night on Friday 17th November.
