Exploring Documentary Photography with Mark Coote

About Mark:
I have been earning my living as a photographer for 30 years. I started out working on newspapers and then like all journalists eventually do, I went to the dark side.I do commercial work now, mainly in the Communications space. Each assignment or photoshoot has a brief. It can be highly prescriptive and is always challenging. It is virtually never documentary.

But what is documentary photography? And how much of the work in my newspaper days was actually documentary?

I will show a range of images, both commissioned and personal with the focus being on documentary work.
