Annual Exhibition 2021 – Opening Night & Information

The Wellington Photographic Society Annual Exhibition opening night is on the 13th of July from 7pm.
Come see the best images our members have captured as well as the winning images of our Competitions. Our annual exhibition is the opportunity to showcase the best work of our members to family, friends and the public and we try to include work from each member.

Trenna Packer Interclub Competition

Trenna Packer entries close on 15 May 2021 

The Society is seeking a range of Nature images from members in order to enter the Trenna Packer Interclub competition again this year. We are required to compile a set of six projected images on the topic of New Zealand Nature with the limitation that only one image in the set can be entered by anyone member.

The exhibition is being held this year at the Te Auaha Gallery in Dixon St and will run from 13-27 July 2021.

Our annual exhibition is the opportunity to showcase the best work of our members to family, friends and the public and we try to include work from each member.

Current members of WPS are invited to submit up to three images to be considered for selection for the exhibition.

Joining a camera club

A question we get asked a lot is why should you join a camera club, society or organisation. With social media being such a fundamental part of any growing photographers education these days, camera clubs can seem like a remnant of older generations.

Modern camera clubs have thankfully evolved somewhat with the times and accessibility of photography. These days you should be able to find something to suits your personal needs, whether you are a seasoned photographer or just starting out with your smartphone. Either way, if you have an interest in photography there are many good reasons to think about joining a camera club.

Trenna Packer Salver competition 2021

Attention nature photographers

We are making a club entry into the Trenna Packer Salver competition again this year. This is a competition open to all clubs in New Zealand. Each club submits a set of six nature projected images which is judged as a set and not as individual photos.
Flow and cohesion are important and the images must all be taken in New Zealand or its offshore islands. Cultivated plants, domestic animals and confined animals are excluded.

For 2021 we are once again looking to celebrate new and emerging forms of photography with a Mobile Photography Competition. This competition aims to give more opportunities to photographers on the go. We are looking for new and different approaches to photography and images showing the vision possible with a modern smartphone. With this competition running during February, it’s our chance to help celebrate the New Zealand Summer and our Beautiful city with the camera you always have with you, your smartphone!
