Print Competition 2022

This year’s print competition will be held on the 8th of December.

Full Competition details:

  • 8th of December @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
  • Categories are: Open | Black and White
  • New Closing Date for Entries: On or before the 10th of November (midnight)
  • Presentation Night: 8th of December 2022 at the TTC Club Rooms

Please note that prints will need to be delivered on or before the 10th of November. If you have any comments or need special consideration, please let us know at comms@wps.org.nz. You can organise the delivery of prints by email if needed if this is more convenient on or before the 10th of November. The Club Meeting on the 10th of November will be the last date for submission of your prints.

When submitting your prints please ensure:

  • The prints are adequately protected i.e. with card/portfolio/bubble wrap
  • All items submitted with the prints are named i.e. photo boxes, cardboard etc. (these will be returned to you with your print)

Entry Specifications:

  • Limited to 3 images per member per category
  • Images must not have been used in any previous Wellington Photographic Society competition
  • Each image is to be entered into one category only
  • Matting of entries is optional. Maximum mat side – 16” x 20” (406mm x 508mm). Not framed. If the image is not matted it is recommended that images are printed with a white border for display purposes.
  • Image size – any size within the mat dimensions
  • Please note your Name, Subject (Open, Black and White), Title of the image and a contact number on the back of your print (In case we need to get it back to you afterwards)

Entry Rules

  • All elements must be the work of (or have been created by) the photographer (entrant).
  • The use of stock photography, computer-rendered or third-party content (including skies, borders or textures) is prohibited.
  • All content and images must be from original exposures made within 24 months of the entry closing date. This includes all composite elements of an image, such as backgrounds, skies, textures and borders.
  • Images captured, retouched, digitally edited or printed over the duration of a workshop, seminar, tutorial, or similar, where the primary focus is for education, are ineligible, irrespective of whether it was under the direct instruction of the presenter or not. This rule only applies to attendees of workshops, tutorials and educational/training events. Instructors, students, emerging members, and attendees of photo-tours where the primary focus is not educational, are not restricted. If you have any questions, regarding the entry or the rules please let us know. Exemptions may be granted in cases of sickness/extenuating circumstances (This will be on a case-by-case basis)
