We are back after a small hiatus with a new issue!
Inside this issue, you’ll find articles on Personal photography projects, an interview with WPS member Fred Wotton, who has been an active photographer for 72 years, Some images from our recent Mobile Competition, a review of one of Canon’s last 35mm SLR’s the EOS-3 among other great articles.
We hope you enjoy this month’s magazine.
A question we get asked a lot is why should you join a camera club, society or organisation. With social media being such a fundamental part of any growing photographers education these days, camera clubs can seem like a remnant of older generations.
Modern camera clubs have thankfully evolved somewhat with the times and accessibility of photography. These days you should be able to find something to suits your personal needs, whether you are a seasoned photographer or just starting out with your smartphone. Either way, if you have an interest in photography there are many good reasons to think about joining a camera club.
Read our guide all about camera clubs and organisations:
For 2021 we are once again looking to celebrate new and emerging forms of photography with a Mobile Photography Competition. This competition aims to give more opportunities to photographers on the go. We are looking for new and different approaches to photography and images showing the vision possible with a modern smartphone. With this competition running during February, it’s our chance to help celebrate the New Zealand Summer and our Beautiful city with the camera you always have with you, your smartphone!
Happy New Year! It’s a new year and that means its time for a new issue!
Inside this issue, you’ll find articles on Artificial intelligence & Photography, an exploration on why you should avoid the hype on new gear, a look at DxO’s Silver Efex Pro, a guide on why you should join a camera club or society and a review of the vintage Braun Super Paxette among other great articles.
We hope you enjoy this month’s magazine and are making the most of NZ’s summer!
Brian Scadden’s passion is old-school craft photography on cameras dating as early as the mid-19th century – some of which he designs and builds himself. These cameras, which can weigh up to 60kgs, predate film – and the images are captured instead on a plate of glass.
